Date: JULY 12, 2026

Location: Tim’s Place – 3434 Oxsheer Drive

Time: 9 am – 4:30 p.m.

Cost: $99

The Austin PPA supports the value of the PPA Certified Professional Photographer program. This class helps students prepare for the CPP examination. Topics include:

* Photographic equipment

* Exposure and metering

* Lighting

* Math formulas

* Color theory

* Composition

* Sample test questions

The class runs from 9 am – 4:30 pm with a break from noon – 1 pm for lunch. We will likely order pizza.

PPA members who attend this class are eligible to receive one service merit from PPA.

The instructor for this class is Tim Babiak, M.Photog.Cr., CPP. Tim has served as a local CPP Liason as well as on the Austin PPA and Texas PPA Boards of Directors.

This isn't just a social event—it's also a chance to create! Bring your camera and a speedlight or reflector (please keep gear compact—no large lighting setups). We'll have opportunities to photograph models in a relaxed, social environment while connecting with fellow photographers.

Whether you're looking to practice your lighting skills, create new portfolio images, meet other photographers, or simply enjoy a glass of wine with friends in the industry, this is the perfect summer evening out.

Hope Rising Portraits - Give back opportunity! (25 Jul 2026)

Hope Rising Portraits is a community-driven volunteer event that honors and uplifts local families through the power of photography. This year, we're partnering with the Austin Professional Photographers Guild, the Rotary Club, and Austin ISD to provide professional portrait sessions and printed photographs to 55 families in our community — all at no cost to them.

Our goal is simple: to create a moment of dignity, beauty, and joy for families who may not otherwise have access to professional portraits. These prints become lasting memories, family heirlooms, and powerful reminders that every story matters.

Together, we're helping hope rise — one portrait at a time.

August Membership Meeting - At ROUND ROCK STUDIO- Registration opens after July meeting (17 Aug 2026)

Have you ever wanted to see a local photography studio that's available for photographers and other creatives to use? This is a meeting you won't want to miss!

Following our general meeting, we'll take a tour of Round Rock Studio, a versatile creative space designed to support photographers, content creators, and small businesses. The studio offers a variety of shooting areas, professional backdrops, and flexible spaces that can be rented for portrait sessions, branding photography, headshots, and creative projects.

The best part? We won't just be touring the studio—we'll get to put it to use!

Bring your camera and join us for a hands-on photography experience. We'll have both a high-key and low-key setup ready, along with a couple of models so you can test out the location, experiment with lighting, and create some great images.

Whether you're looking for a future studio rental, a place to host client sessions, or simply want to expand your creative network, this is a fantastic opportunity to see what's available right here in our community.
