A photograph straight out of camera is not always the final image. Sometimes, retouching is what transforms a good photograph into a finished work — helping the photographer refine their style, emphasize the story, and bring their creative vision to life.

In this session, we’ll explore why we retouch photographs, the different types of retouching, and when to use each approach. We’ll also discuss how to retouch intentionally — knowing what to enhance, what to leave alone, and how to preserve the authenticity of the original image.

And, of course, we’ll dive into specific retouching techniques you can apply to your own work. By the end of the session, you’ll have practical tools and techniques to help you improve your images and elevate your final results.

Meeting Cancellation Policy

If our monthly membership meeting is cancelled due to inclement weather, location availability, natural disasters or other practical reasons, Austin PPA will attempt to reschedule the meeting for the following week or as soon as possible. If the meeting cannot be rescheduled for a particular month, fees submitted by all registered attendees will be applied to the following month’s membership meeting. One or more email messages will be sent to all registered attendees and the general membership regarding the cancellation and available rescheduling information.
