This class is all about editing and post production techniques using Photoshop and Lightroom for retouching people photos. This is an in-depth class sharing the workflow and techniques Tim use to process his images.

 Topics will include the following:

  • A color-managed workflow – how to set it up and use it from camera to print

  • Setting up Lightroom and Photoshop for optimum performance
  • Organizing files, folders and catalogs
  • Understanding global and local editing methods in Lightroom
  • Workflow from capture to print (Lightroom and Photoshop)
  • Understanding layers, masks and blend modes in Photoshop
  • Understanding quick retouching capabilities in both Lightroom and Photoshop including blemish removal, skin smoothing, teeth whitening and eye whitening/brightening
  • How to improve color harmony
  • Using liquify and dodge and burn to modify form
  • Advanced retouching in Photoshop using frequency separation
  • Cropping, sizing and outputting images from Lightroom for web and print

The techniques you’ll learn can be used to make subtle improvements to your images or dramatic changes – the choice is up to you!

This class is limited to eight people. You will need to bring a laptop with Lightroom (any version from 3 – cc) AND Photoshop (any version from CS3 – CC). Tim will provide images, exercises, presets and actions that you’ll use during the day. Tim will have notes, handouts and shortcuts for you – bring note taking materials – you’ll need them!

We’ll start at 10 am, break for lunch then wrap up the day at 5 pm. This day will be in-depth and you’re sure to pick up tons of information to make your images sizzle!


This class has approval pending by PPA for one continuing education merit for each attendee. (approval in progress)

This is a hands-on class. You MUST bring your computer. A tablet is optional.

This is not and introduction to Photoshop. You will need to know a few basics, have used the brush tool, and be reasonably comfortable generally.
